GROOVY ACCOMMODATION SERVICE: Our goal is to help you narrow the choice from hundreds of hotels to a few dozen. We believe these are the best hotels in each city for both business and pleasure.
METHODOLOGY: We made our hotel selection based on three main criteria: 1). location 2) reputation 3) price. Once you apply these criteria, the list narrows itself since if a hotel has an excellent location, is known or recommended to us, it is worth listing. In addition, we (will) list hotels that carry the Groovy Map as a minibar amenity, and indicate this service with 'GM in minibar'. By agreement, the price is equal to bookstore retail prices, and we supply hotels with the latest editions for your convenience.
THE DEVELOPMENT: Our service exists because, you, the Groovy Map user, requested it enough times for management to see the light. Then, we had to locate a booking engine/company that did not object to us listing a fraction of their available number of hotel offerings and not pushing their higher-margin, higher discounted properties. Secondly, we did not wish to negotiate direct with the hotels who might object to some of the 'Groovy says' reviews, and thus limit our ability to serve YOU.
PRICING: Our booking rates on the surface can appear to be $5-20 more than other hotel listing sites, depending on the per night charge. This is because we INCLUDE breakfast, and all service charges and taxes, which in the case of Thailand is 10% + 7% VAT respectively. Some websites DO NOT INCLUDE these charges to reduce the apparent price but then you may pay more in the end (and it is not a fair comparison as well). For our service, we hope you will consider the added-value we aim to deliver and book with us.
